Anadolu photojournalists win at World Sports Photography Awards competition

More than 1,400 applications received at one of most prestigious events in sports photography

ISTANBUL (AA) - Anadolu photojournalists won three awards in the World Sports Photography Awards competition.

The competition, regarded as one of the most prestigious in sports photography, attracted more than 1,400 applications. The entries came from an impressive 83 countries, highlighting the global interest and recognition of the event.

Anadolu senior photojournalist Ercin Erturk won third prize in the Winter Sports category for his exceptional photograph taken at the Türkiye Synchronized Ice Skating Championship Ceremony.

Aytac Unal, the deputy director of photography News at Anadolu, received the special merit award in the Equestrianism category. His photograph was taken at the Türkiye Presidential Cup jumping competitions.

In addition, Anadolu senior photojournalist Emin Sansar clinched a special merit award in the Football category.

His photo captured the moment when Faruk Koca, former head of the Ankaragucu football club, punched referee Halil Umut Meler following a Turkish Super Lig match against Caykur Rizespor.
