BEIRUT (AA) – Another Hezbollah fighter was killed in clashes with Israeli forces in southern Lebanon on Wednesday, the Lebanese group said.
Hezbollah identified the slain fighter as Wahid Abdul-Hameed Tufaili from the town of Deir al-Zahrani. It, however, did not provide any details about the circumstances of his death.
The Israeli army said Wednesday that it had struck Hezbollah targets in five towns in southern Lebanon.
Tension has escalated along Lebanon’s border with Israel amid an exchange of cross-border attacks between Hezbollah and Israeli forces as Tel Aviv pressed ahead with its deadly offensive on the Gaza Strip, which has killed more than 34,500 people since last October following a Hamas attack.
At least 288 Hezbollah fighters have since been killed in clashes with Israeli forces, according to figures released by the group.
