BEIRUT (AA) – Another Hezbollah fighter was killed in clashes with Israeli forces in southern Lebanon on Tuesday, the Lebanese group said.

Hezbollah identified the slain fighter as Mahmoud Ibrahim Fadlallah, 49, from the town of Ainatha in southern Lebanon.

It, however, did not provide any details about the circumstances of his death.

Early Tuesday, the Israeli army assassinated senior Hezbollah commander Ismail Yusuf Baz in a drone strike in Tyre in southern Lebanon.

Tension has escalated along Lebanon’s border with Israel amid an exchange of cross-border attacks between Hezbollah and Israeli forces as Tel Aviv pressed ahead with its deadly offensive on the Gaza Strip, which has killed more than 33,800 people since last October following a Hamas attack.

At least 275 Hezbollah fighters have been killed in clashes with Israeli forces since then, according to Lebanese media.
