JERUSALEM (AA) - An Israeli soldier was killed and three others seriously injured in separate incidents in eastern Gaza City during the past night, according to the Army Radio on Wednesday.
The radio revealed further details of three "serious incidents" that took place in the Zaytoun neighborhood.
In the first incident, Staff Sgt. Avraham Wovagen, 21, of the army's Nahal Brigade's 932nd Battalion was killed in a close-range confrontation with Palestinian gunmen in one of the alleys of the neighborhood.
As for the second incident, the radio said an anti-tank missile was fired at an Israeli army armored vehicle, resulting in serious injury of two soldiers.
An explosive device was detonated and an anti-tank missile was fired at another force, resulting in serious injury, the radio reported the third incident.
Since the start of the Israeli ground operation in Gaza on Oct. 27, at least 237 Israeli soldiers have been killed.
A total of 576 Israeli soldiers have been killed since the launch of the Israeli onslaught against Gaza on Oct. 7 following the Hamas attack.
The ensuing Israeli bombardment killed at least 29,313 Palestinians and injured about 69,333 with mass destruction and shortages of necessities.
The Israeli war on Gaza has pushed 85% of the territory's population into internal displacement amid acute shortages of food, clean water, and medicine, while 60% of the enclave's infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed, according to the UN.
Israel stands accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice. An interim ruling in January ordered Tel Aviv to stop genocidal acts and take measures to guarantee that humanitarian assistance is provided to civilians in Gaza.
