ANKARA (AA) - Antonio Conte was appointed as the new manager for Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday, the club announced.
According to a statement, the Italian manager has signed until the summer of 2023, with an option to extend.
The development comes a day after the London club sacked manager Nuno Espirito Santo, who took charge in July, following a disappointing start to the season.
Spurs have lost five of their past seven league matches, including the weekend defeat by Manchester United. With 15 points, they are currently placed 9th in the league table.
“I am extremely happy to return to coaching, and to do so at a Premier League club that has the ambition to be a protagonist again," Conte said.
The 52-year-old has coached high profile clubs including Chelsea, Inter Milan, Juventus, and also managed the Italian National Team between 2014 and 2016.
He was with Chelsea when they won the Premier League in 2017, and the 2018 FA Cup. He also has four Serie A titles; one with Inter in 2021 and three with Juventus in 2012, 2013 and 2014.
