ISTANBUL (AA) – Apple on Monday unveiled a new partnership with OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT into voice assistant Siri.
Apple executives, led by CEO Tim Cook, introduced new AI technology called "Apple Intelligence" during a nearly two-hour comprehensive presentation at the company's annual Worldwide Developers Conference in Cupertino, California.
"All of this goes beyond artificial intelligence, it’s personal intelligence, and it is the next big step for Apple," Apple CEO Tim Cook said.
Apple users can expect a significant update that will allow them to control email, text messages, photos, and a variety of other functions with their voices.
Additionally, Apple users will be able to craft personalized emojis based on language prompts and generate summaries of emails in the mailbox.
Meanwhile, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said on X post that he is "very happy" to be partnering with Apple to integrate ChatGPT into their devices.
The upgrades will be accessible at no cost through Apple's upcoming iOS 18 operating system, which is set to be released in late 2024.
However, it will only be compatible with newer models of the iPhone, iPad, and MacBook.
