ISTANBUL (AA) – Arab countries congratulated Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye.
The Republic of Türkiye was founded on Oct. 29, 1923 after the signing of the Treaty of Lausanne, one of the most pivotal founding agreements.
Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman each sent cables of congratulations to President Erdogan on the occasion of Republic Day, according to Saudi Arabia’s official news agency SPA.
They expressed their "sincere congratulations to the government and people of the brotherly Republic of Türkiye on their continued progress and prosperity."
The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, his deputy Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Thani and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani also sent telegrams of congratulations to the Turkish president, according to the Qatari News Agency.
United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Vice President Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan sent cables of congratulations to President Erdogan on the occasion of Republic Day, according to the official news agency WAM.
Tweeting in Turkish on X, Al Maktoum said: “We extend our congratulations to the Turkish people on the occasion of the centenary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye, with our wishes for more achievements and prosperity in the next century.”
"We share strong historical and cultural ties with Türkiye, and we look forward to continuing to strengthen our relations for a safe, secure and prosperous future for both our countries and the world," he added.
Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah and Crown Prince Sheikh Meshal al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah also sent cables of congratulations to the Turkish president on the same occasion, wishing all progress and prosperity to the Turkish Republic and its people.
Also, Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tariq Al Said sent a congratulatory telegram to the Turkish president “which included sincere congratulations and sincere wishes to President Erdogan and the friendly Turkish people for continued progress and development,” according to the Omani News Agency.
On Sunday, Moroccan King Mohammed VI sent a telegram of congratulations to President Erdogan on the occasion of his country’s celebration of Republic Day, according to the official Maghreb Agence Presse news agency
He expressed his warmest congratulations and sincere wishes to the Turkish people to achieve the further progress and prosperity they desire.
The king conveyed to President Erdogan his country’s ambition to consolidate the strong ties of friendship and mutual appreciation that unite the two countries.
Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said in a post on X that “we extend our sincere congratulations to brotherly Türkiye on the occasion of celebrating the centenary of the Republic. We look forward to strengthening our historical relations, building on the distinguished bonds of friendship and cooperation.”
On Saturday, Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa sent a telegram of congratulations to the Turkish president on the occasion of Republic Day, expressing to the people of the Republic of Türkiye his wishes for further progress and prosperity.
