JERUSALEM (AA) – An Armenian terror group earlier this week attacked a Jewish synagogue with a Molotov cocktail and spray paint in Yerevan, according to Israeli state media.
Public broadcaster KAN said the Young Fighters for the Freedom of Armenia (YFFA) was behind the attack.
It cited a statement by the extremist group accepting responsibility for the attack "in retaliation to Israel and world Jewry's support of Azerbaijan."
The YFFA said the attack was a warning to the Jews and Israel. "If rabbis in the US and Europe continue to support the Aliyev regime [referring to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev], then we will burn synagogues in other countries."
The Armenian Foreign Ministry, for its part, had condemned the attack, saying "there is no place for hate and intolerance in Armenia."
Azerbaijan regained full control over its territory of Karabakh last month after taking counter-terrorism actions.
