ALGIERS (AA) - The Algerian army on Friday ambushed and killed “seven dangerous terrorists” in the northeastern Khenchela province, according to a statement released by the Defense Ministry.
The ministry did not identify the slain terrorists by name.
According to local security experts, several terrorist groups -- including Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) and a handful of Daesh-linked groups -- still maintain a presence in Algeria’s northern provinces.
Earlier this month, the army said it had killed 91 terrorists -- and arrested another 40 -- in different parts of the country in 2017.
