Arsenal move back on top of Premier League as Man Utd, Liverpool draw

Collecting 39 points, London football club one point ahead of Liverpool, Aston Villa

ISTANBUL (AA) - Arsenal reclaimed the top spot from Liverpool as Manchester United and Liverpool drew on matchday 17 of the English Premier League.

Sunday's Liverpool - Manchester United showdown ended with a goalless draw at Anfield Stadium.

Arsenal had a 2-0 win over Brighton in London as Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz were the scorers.

The Gunners moved to the top of the Premier League with 39 points in 17 matches. Second-place Liverpool and third-place Aston Villa have collected 38 points each.

Manchester City, who were held to a 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace are fourth with 34 points.

Manchester United are in the lower ranks with 28 points.


- Real Madrid ahead of Girona, who have a game in hand

Real Madrid beat Villarreal 4-1 to jump to the top of Spanish La Liga in 17 matches ahead of second-place Girona.

Girona, who have a game in hand, will face Deportivo Alaves Estadi Montilivi on Monday.

Jude Bellingham, Rodrygo, Brahim Diaz, and Luka Modric scored for Real Madrid while Jose Morales scored a goal for Villarreal at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Barcelona drew 1-1 with Valencia while Athletic Bilbao defeated Atletico Madrid 2-0 on matchday 17.

Real Madrid are top of the table with 42, followed by Girona with 41 points, Barcelona with 35 points, and Atletico Madrid with 34 points.


- Bayer Leverkusen still undefeated this season in Bundesliga

Bayer Leverkusen, the undefeated leader in the German Bundesliga, beat Eintracht Frankfurt 3-0 in a Sunday match.

Victor Boniface, Jeremie Frimpong, and Florian Wirtz scored for the home team at BayArena.

Leverkusen increased their points to 39 after the win.

Second-place Bayern Munich, who have a game in hand, have 35 points after beating Stuttgart 3-0 in Munich.

The Bavarians scored in 64 consecutive Bundesliga home games, equaling the all-time Bundesliga record set by the club between 1970 and 1974.

Leipzig beat Hoffenheim 3-1 to move to third place while Borussia Dortmund drew 1-1 with Augsburg.

Leaders Bayer Leverkusen have 39 points, Bayern Munich, who has a game in hand, are second with 35 points and Leipzig are third with 32 points.

Inter Milan defeated Lazio 2-0 as the goals came from Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram.

Juventus were held to a 1-1 draw in Genoa while AC Milan beat Monza 3-0 in the 16th week.

Inter Milan are at the top of the Serie A with 41 points, followed by Juventus with 37 points and AC Milan with 32 points.

Jonathan David equalized in stoppage time in Ligue 1 as Lille held leaders Paris Saint-Germain to a 1-1 draw on matchday 16.

Nice claimed a 3-1 win against Le Havre, while Monaco lost to Olympique Lyon 0-1.

Collecting 37 points, leaders Paris Saint-Germain are five points ahead of second-place Nice, while Monaco are third with 30 points.
