ANKARA (AA) – Major Asian stock markets closed Monday by posting increases.
The Asia Dow, which includes blue-chip companies in the region, gained 0.63% to 3,507 points.
On Monday, the Bank of Japan's monetary meeting minutes from December showed a member signaled for possible interest rate hike soon.
In minutes, it was noted that the worldwide economic slowdown may affect severely the Japanese economy and the bank should revise its monetary policy.
Tokyo's Nikkei 225 jumped 1.33% to 26,906.04 points, while India's Sensex benchmark gained 0.53% to close at 60,941.67.
Due to Chinese New Year, indexes will be closed in China throughout the week, till Wednesday in Hong Kong and till Tuesday in Singapore.
