Asian stock markets close Thursday lower

Hong Kong stock exchange decreases 0.79%

ANKARA (AA) - Major Asian stock markets closed lower on Thursday amid investor concerns on the end of China's zero-COVID policy.

The Asia Dow, which includes blue-chip companies in the region, lost 0.64% for a reading of 3,224.23 points.

Tokyo's Nikkei 225 increased 0.94% to close at 26,093.67.

The Hang Seng, the benchmark for blue-chip stocks trading on the Hong Kong stock exchange, fell 0.79% to 19,741.14.

Hong Kong's exports declined by 24.1% to $360 billion in November, while its imports were down 20.3% to $387.1 billion.

China's Shanghai Stock Exchange dropped 0.44% to 3,073.70.

On the other hand, India's Sensex benchmark rose 0.37% to close at 61,133.88, while the Singapore index slipped 0.54%, to 3,249.24.

India posted a current account deficit of $36.4 billion in the third quarter of 2022, up from a $9.7 billion gap a year earlier.
