Asian stock markets close Tuesday in green

Investors monitoring developments in Russia's war on Ukraine following inconclusive talks between Moscow, Kyiv

ANKARA (AA) – Major Asian stock markets closed Tuesday in green as investors are monitoring the latest developments in Russia's war on Ukraine following the inconclusive talks between Moscow and Kyiv.

According to analysts, the effect of the sanctions on Russia may spread to other countries, especially developing countries, and this may delay the recovery in the global growth figures, which is currently weak due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Asia Dow, which includes blue-chip companies in the region, rose 18.11 points, or 0.50%, to 3,608 points at 1030GMT.

Tokyo's Nikkei 225 stock exchange increased 318 points, or 1.20%, to close at 26,844 points.

China's Shanghai Stock Exchange increased 10.90 points, or 0.32%, to finish at 3,462.

The manufacturing industry purchasing managers index (PMI) fell to 52.7 in Japan and rose to 50.2 in China in February.

India's Sensex benchmark was the best performer of the day – up 389 points, or 0.70%, to 56,247.

The Singapore index also rose 36.39 points, or 1.12%, to end the day at 3,278.

The Hang Seng, the benchmark for blue-chip stocks trading on the Hong Kong stock exchange, increased 49 points, or 0.21%, to 22,761.
