ANKARA (AA) – Major Asian stock markets closed mixed on Tuesday as investors remain concerned over a possible surge in COVID-19 cases in China due to Lunar New Year celebrations later this month.
The Asia Dow, which includes blue-chip companies in the region, fell 0.34% to 3,354.65 points.
The Hang Seng, the benchmark for blue-chip stocks trading on the Hong Kong stock exchange, declined 0.27% to 21,331.46.
India’s Sensex benchmark dropped 1.04% to close at 60,115.48, while the Singapore index was down 1.29% to 3,262.91.
On the flip side, Tokyo’s Nikkei 225 rose 0.78% to 26,175.56 points, while China’s Shanghai Stock Exchange climbed 0.38% to 3,169.51.
