ANKARA (AA) - Major Asian stock markets closed on Wednesday with gains, except for Indian Sensex benchmark, after Russia announced a partial military withdrawal from the Ukrainian border.
The Asia Dow, which includes the region’s blue-chip companies, gained 60.36 points, or 1.63%, to close at 3,753.51 points.
The Nikkei 225 index in Tokyo rose the most at midweek close, going up 595.2 points, or 2.22%, to hit 27,460.40 at close.
The Hang Seng, the benchmark for blue-chip stocks trading on the Hong Kong stock exchange, climbed 363.19 points, or 1.49%, to 24,718.90.
China’s Shanghai stock exchange posted a rise of 19.74 points, or 0.57%, to 3,465.8 points.
The Indian Sensex benchmark was the only index in the negative territory, down 244.4 points, or 0.42%, to close at 57,897.6 points, while the Singapore index increased 17.92 points, or 0.52%, to 3,439.
