Aston Villa miss chance to sit atop Premier League with late goals

ISTANBUL (AA) - Aston Villa on Friday missed a chance to go to the top of the English Premier League after a 1-1 draw with Sheffield United.

On matchday 18, Arsenal were held to a 1-1 with Liverpool as Gabriel Magalhees scored for the Gunners and Mohamed Salah leveled the game for the Reds at Anfield stadium.

Tottenham Hotspur defeated Everton 2-1 to jump to fourth place with 36 points.

Arsenal are at the top of the standings with 40 points while both second-place Liverpool and third-place Aston Villa have 39.

Manchester City, which collected 34 points, were scheduled to take on Brentford this weekend, but the match was postponed due to the Club World Cup.



- Real Madrid remains on top

The 10-man Real Madrid claimed a narrow win over Alaves with the goal coming from Lucas Vazquez in stoppage time.

Nacho got a red card in the 54th minute.

Girona drew 1-1 with Real Betis, while Atletico Madrid had a 3-3 home draw against Getafe..

Real Madrid are top of the standings with 45 points, Girona are second with the same, and Atletico Madrid are third with 38 points.

Barcelona are in fourth with 38 points.



- Inter leads Serie A

Inter Milan had a 2-0 win over Lecce with goals from Yann Aurel Bisseck and Nicolo Barella.

Turkish player Kenan Yildiz scored his first goal for Juventus in his debut in Juventus' 2-1 victory against Frosinone.

Yildiz also made history as the youngest foreign scorer for Juventus in Serie A, only 18 years and 233 days old.

AC Milan were held to a 2-2 draw while Bologna defeated Atalanta 1-0.

Inter Milan are top of Serie A with 44 points with Juventus second with 40 points followed by AC Milan with 33.



- Unbeaten league-leaders Bayer Leverkusen defeat Bochum

Bayer Leverkusen, the undefeated leader in the German Bundesliga, beat Bochum 4-0 when Patrik Schick scored a hat-trick.

Jamal Musiala and Harry Kane led defending champion Bayern Munich's 2-1 win against Wolfsburg.

Stuttgart defeated Augsburg 3-0 while Leipzig drew 1-1 with Werder Bremen.

Collecting 42 points, Bayer Leverkusen are first in the Bundesliga standings on matchday 16.

Followed by Bayern Munich, which have a game in hand with 38 points, Stuttgart are third with 34 points.



- PSG beat Metz 2-1 as Kylian Mbappe scores twice

Paris Saint-Germain defeated Metz 3-1 while Kylian Mbappe scored twice on his 25th birthday.

Nice, who are second with 35 points, beat Lens 2-0 and Monaco, who are third with 33 points, defeated Toulouse 2-1.

Paris Saint-Germain are the top of the standings with 40 points.
