ATHENS (AA) – At least four migrants died in a shipwreck off the Greek island of Samos, the second such deadly mishap this week, local media reported on Thursday.
The victims were identified as two women and two children, said public broadcaster ERT, adding that 16 migrants who were also on the same boat as the victims were rescued.
A search and rescue operation is underway with the participation of coast guard, police, and rescue teams, under the supervision of the Unified Center for Coordination of Search and Rescue, it said.
This Monday, at least eight migrants, including six children and two women, died in a shipwreck off Samos.
