August 2023 recorded as 4th hottest August in Switzerland

It follows August 2003, 1992, 2022

GENEVA (AA) - This month has been recorded as the fourth hottest August in Switzerland on record, according to the private weather service, Meteonews.

The temperature was 2 Celsius (35.6F) warmer than the long-term average from 1991 to 2020, it said Tuesday.

It noted that August 2023 was the fourth warmest August, following 2003, 1992 and 2022.

The first 10 days were cooler than average, except Aug. 2 while, from Aug. 10 - 25 it was hot.

Meteonews noted that although it was mostly dry for a long time, especially in the lowlands, August was also reported as too wet across most of the country.
