ISTANBUL (AA) – Top officials from Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan held wide-ranging discussions on bilateral trade and cooperation in a meeting on Tuesday.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev received Turkmenistan’s Deputy Prime Minister for Trade Batyr Atdayev for delegation-level talks in the capital Baku.
“They exchanged views on the issues of energy, transport, logistics and mutual supply of goods,” according to an Azerbaijani government statement.
“The sides hailed the development of Azerbaijan-Turkmenistan bilateral relations … (and) noted that the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan has increased.”
The delegations also discussed “opportunities for cooperation in shipbuilding, ship repair and other industrial sectors,” and emphasized the need for joint projects to further expand bilateral trade turnover, the statement said.
They also “pointed out the issues to be discussed at a meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on economic and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries to be held in Baku today,” it added.
