ANKARA (AA) - Legendary American baseball player Babe Ruth's baseball card made in 1914 was sold for around $6 million at an auction, Collectible said Tuesday on social media.

The investing platform that brings together sports fans in a community did not disclose the exact amount of the price because of the agreement with the card’s seller.

While there are only 10 copies of the card, the last one of it was sold for $450,300 in 2013.

The previous record for a sports memorabilia was $5.2 million paid for a 1952 Mickey Mantle baseball card in January. The rookie card of National Basketball Association player LeBron James was sold for $5.2 million in April.

Collectible also said it "will be offering shares" of Babe Ruth's 1914 baseball card as well, for $3 per share, so that users can have partial ownership stake.

The company, which was launched in September, provides a stock market for sports memorabilia where users can buy and sell shares of sports-related rare and iconic items, from jerseys to sneakers that were worn and signed by professional athletes.

Ruth played in Major League Baseball for 22 seasons, breaking numerous records, winning 7 championships in the US known as World Series. He is considered by many as the greatest baseball player in history.
