MOSCOW (AA) – Three people were injured on Tuesday in an explosion at a defense industrial plant in the city of Shirvan, northeastern Azerbaijan.
"On Jan. 23 at about 15:00 (1100 GMT), the prosecutor's office of the city of Shirvan received a message about an explosion at the Araz plant, which is under the Ministry of Defense Industry. According to the preliminary information, three people were injured as a result of the incident," the attorney's office in the city said in a statement.
According to preliminary findings, the explosion was caused by an accident during the production process.
"Currently, the staff of the attorney's office is conducting an inspection of the scene and performing other procedural actions," the statement said.
The Association for the Management of Medical Territorial Divisions of Azerbaijan said in a separate statement that the injured have been shifted to Shirvan City Hospital, where they are receiving treatment.
