MANAMA (AA) - Bahrain on Wednesday announced hosting an "important international military" meeting devoted to the Gulf region's security.
The meeting aims "to address the repeated attacks and rejected practices by Iran and its terrorist groups," Bahrain's Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
No further details were disclosed about countries participating in the meeting.
The ministry decried Iran's targeting of "security of the international maritime navigation in the Arabian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz”.
It also accused Iran of threatening the stability of the region and the world as a whole.
Tensions with Iran escalated earlier this month after Tehran’s seizure of a British-flagged tanker in the Strait of Hormuz.
Last month, two oil tankers were attacked near the strait and the U.S. blamed Iran, a claim Tehran denied.
