ISTANBUL (AA) - Barcelona confirmed Tuesday that it made €98 million ($97.7 million) in profit last season.
"The Board of Directors has approved the budget for the 2022/23 season which includes an operating income budget of 1.255 billion euros, with a profit forecast of 274 million euros," the team said in a statement.
"At the end of the previous season, the board closed the 2021/22 financial year with a turnover of 1.017 billion euros and a profit of 98 million euros," it added.
The Spanish football club took radical measures to reduce staff salaries and make the club economically sustainable following the coronavirus pandemic.
The team previously inked permanent contracts with Robert Lewandowski for $46 million and $5.1 million in variables; Raphinha for $58 million; Jules Kounde for $50 million and Pablo Torre signed for $5 million as it faced $1 billion in debt.
Defender Hector Bellerin returned on a one-year deal after terminating his deal with Arsenal on transfer deadline day.
Bellerin, 27, put pen to paper until the end of June and a buyout clause has been set at $50 million.
