ANKARA (AA) - Turkish football club Medipol Basaksehir visited their Icelandic opponents Breidablik and beat them 3-1 Thursday in the 2022-23 UEFA Europa Conference League.
Serbian midfielder Danijel Aleksic scored a double -- including an injury time goal in the second half -- for Basaksehir in Kopavogur, Iceland.
Turkish midfielder Deniz Turuc scored from close range after a through ball for the visitors in the 52nd minute.
Eleven minutes later, Icelandic midfielder Viktor Karl Einarsson netted a second-half goal.
Basaksehir, who returned home with a crucial win, will host Breidablik in the second leg in Istanbul on Aug. 11.
Another Turkish team in the tournament, Arabam.com Konyaspor, drew 1-1 with Vaduz after a late equalizer in Liechtenstein.
Vaduz were unable to secure a 1-0 lead after Franklin Sasere's goal in the 72nd minute. Konyaspor pulled level as Muhammet Demir scored near the end of the match.
The second leg will be held in Konya, Türkiye on Aug. 11.
