ANKARA (AA) - FIBA announced host countries for November 2020 windows of the FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2021 and FIBA EuroBasket 2022 Qualifiers along with the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 European Pre-Qualifiers amid COVID-19 crisis.
''The FIBA Europe Board approved 16 applications to host qualification games in a protected environment tournament format (bubbles), in its 10th meeting, held via videoconference on Thursday,'' FIBA said in a statement on Thursday.
''Each of the men's and women's tournament will consist of the teams of one group – four teams each, or three teams for some of the women's groups.''
FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2021 Qualifiers Group E games, in which Turkey, Serbia, Lithuania and Albania will compete in, will take place in Istanbul, Turkey from Nov. 8 to 16.
Istanbul will also host Group D matches in FIBA EuroBasket 2022 Qualifiers between Nov. 23 and Dec. 1.
Croatia, Netherlands, Sweden and Turkey will fight in Group D to qualify for the EuroBasket 2022.
The qualifiers will be played in a bubble format to minimize coronavirus risks for teams.
