ANKARA (AA) - Bayer Leverkusen came back from a 1-0 deficit to stun title contenders Bayern Munich 2-1 in the German Bundesliga on Sunday.
Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich scored the opener in the 22nd minute at BayArena.
Argentine midfielder Exequiel Palacios scored two goals from the penalty spot in the second half as hosts Bayer Leverkusen completed the comeback.
Xabi Alonso's men fought at BayArena to upset second-place Bayern Munich, who are battling Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund.
Alonso, Leverkusen's head coach, was a Bayern Munich midfielder from 2014-2017.
Borussia Dortmund have 53 points in 25 matches to lead the league.
Following the loss, Bayern Munich are now a point behind Dortmund.
Leverkusen moved to eighth spot with 37 points.
The German league will resume on March 31 after a break for international matches.
