ANKARA (AA) – Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka, who underwent surgery for a fractured hand, will miss several matches, the German football club confirmed on Sunday.
"Leon Goretzka suffered a hand fracture in FC Bayern's match at Mainz on Saturday, as confirmed by a scan carried out by the medical department. Goretzka underwent a successful operation on Sunday and will miss Bayern's upcoming matches," Bayern Munich said in a statement.
Goretzka, 28, is a Bayern Munich player since 2018 and helped his club win five German Bundesliga titles, and a UEFA Champions League title in 2020.
He scored 36 goals and made 37 assists in 191 matches for Bayern Munich.
The German international previously played for Schalke 04.
Bayern Munich will visit Istanbul's Galatasaray in a Champions League match on Tuesday.
In addition to Goretzka, Bayern Munich's Dayot Upamecano, Raphael Guerreiro and Serge Gnabry also had injuries.
