ISTANBUL (AA) - German reigning champs Bayern Munich closed the gap at the top of the Bundesliga to a point with the leader Borussia Monchengladbach.
The leader Borussia Monchengladbach were defeated by Union Berlin 2-0 while Bayern Munich beat Fortuna Dusseldorf 4-0 on Saturday.
In Germany's Bundesliga, Borussia Monchengladbach remained at top spot with 25 points, followed by Leipzig and Bayern Munich with 24 points.
After the latest games in the top five European football leagues over the weekend, Liverpool, Barcelona, Juventus, Borussia Monchengladbach, and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) filled the top positions of their respective leagues.
England's Premier League leaders Liverpool beat Crystal Palace 2-1 to remain comfortable at the top with 37 points.
The runner-up Leicester City defeated Brighton Hove Albion 2-0 to win five matches in a row.
Reigning champions Manchester City edged out Chelsea 2-1 to stay nine points away from the top spot.
The leader Liverpool with 37 points were followed by Leicester City with 29 points and Manchester City with 28 points.
In the Spanish La Liga, reigning champs Barcelona beat Leganes 2-1 to remain at top.
The runner-up Real Madrid also defeated Real Sociedad 3-1 while Atletico Madrid drew Granada 1-1.
The leader Barcelona with 28 points were followed by Real Madrid with same points.
In Italy's Serie A, the leader Juventus beat Atalanta 3-1 to remain undefeated in the league this season.
The runner-up Inter Milan stunned Torino 3-0 while Lazio edged out Sassuolo 2-1 and Roma beat Brescia 3-0.
The last eight year’s champions Juventus topped the league with 35 points. They were closely followed by Inter with 34 points.
In the French Ligue 1, the reigning champions PSG beat Lille 2-0 while Angers defeated Nimes 1-0.
Olympique Marseille beat Toulouse 2-0 while Bordeaux defeated Monaco 2-1.
The PSG topped the league with 33 points, followed by Olympique Marseille with 25 points and Angers with 24 points.
