ISTANBUL (AA) - Bayern Munich confirmed on Tuesday the signing of French forward Mathys Tel for an undisclosed fee.
"FC Bayern have signed France youth international Mathys Tel. The 17-year-old joins the German record champions from Stade Rennes," a statement by the club said.
Tel made just 10 appearances to play 79 minutes for the French Ligue 1 club Rennes last season.
He became the youngest player in the history of Rennes, making his debut at the age of 16 years and 110 days in his first league outing in August 2021.
"FC Bayern are one of the best teams in the world. I'm very much looking forward to this great challenge and I will give my all for this club," Tel said after the signing ceremony.
"I've been very impressed with the discussions with Hasan Salihamidzic and the FC Bayern management, and I quickly realized I definitely wanted to come to Munich," he added.
Board member Hasan Salihamidzic described Tel as "one of the biggest talents in Europe, a very quick, technically strong and versatile striker."
Terms of the contract, including salary and duration, were also not disclosed.
