ISTANBUL (AA) - Beijing said Wednesday it welcomes a trip by US Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, who will be leading a bipartisan delegation of senators to China.
“We hope this visit will contribute to a more objective understanding of China in the US Congress, increase dialogue and communication between the legislatures of our two countries, and add positive factors to the growth of China-US relations,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Schumer will visit Japan, South Korea and China on a trip that “will focus on the issues of economic competition and security, American national security, and global leadership in advanced technology,” the senator wrote on X.
The visit is expected to take place next week.
Schumer will travel with senators Michael D. Crapo, Bill Cassidy, Maggie Hassan, John Kennedy and Jon Ossoff.
