ISTANBUL (AA) – Aryna Sabalenka from Belarus moved to the US Open tennis tournament semifinals for the second year with a win over Czech Karolina Pliskova on Wednesday.
Sixth seed Sabalenka defeated Pliskova with the sets of 6-1, 7-6 (7-4) at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
"I just tried to make her work for it. She played really well—somehow I was able to handle this level and win this match," Sabalenka said on court after the game.

Sabalenka, 24, will play against the winner of top-ranked Iga Swiatek or number eight Jessica Pegula for a ticket for her first Grand Slam final.
Meanwhile, Sabalenka lost to Leylah Fernandez of Canada in the last year's US Open semifinals.
