ANKARA (AA) – Team Jumbo-Visma's Belgian athlete Wout van Aert won the 8th stage of Tour de France on Saturday.
The 27-year-old cyclist completed 186.3-km (113-mile) stage from Dole to Lausanne in four hours, 13 minutes and 6 seconds.
Australian rider Michael Matthews of BikeExchange-Jayco came second and Slovenian cyclist Tadej Pogacar for the UAE Team Emirates finished third.
Defending champion Pogacar is still at the top of the general ranking, extending his yellow jersey lead to 39 seconds.
The 9th stage of Tour de France, a 193-km (119-mile) ride, will be run from Aigle in Switzerland to Chatel in France on Sunday.
