WASHINGTON (AA) - US President Joe Biden on Tuesday nominated former US Treasury Secretary Jack Lew as ambassador to Israel, the White House said in a statement.
Lew, who also served as chief of staff during the Obama administration, needs to be confirmed by the Senate.
US-Israeli relations have been tense recently due to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government judicial overhaul, which is opposed by the Biden administration.
