ANKARA (AA) – Borsa Istanbul BIST 100 index was down at the close on Thursday.
Turkey's sole stock exchange index slipped 0.64 percent, or 490.22 points, to close at 76,681.37 points.
Among the best performers was the tourism sector index with a 2.82 percent increase while the worst performer was the textile and leather sector, with a 3.38 percent loss.
Despite advancing markedly in first half of the day following better-than-expected consumer price inflation data, the index failed keep its positive momentum and slipped to 76,612 points.
Analysts expect markets to closely follow the polls for the U.S. presidential elections and non-farm payroll data due Friday.
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate, which was at 3.1150 by the time markets opened at 9.30 a.m. (0630GMT) on Thursday, was down 0.2 percent at 3.1080 at market close 5.30 p.m. (1430GMT).
