ANKARA (AA) - Former FIFA President Sepp Blatter and France football legend Michel Platini have been acquitted by the Swiss Federal Criminal Court in a FIFA fraud trial on Friday.
The two have been cleared of fraud charges in the trial held in Bellinzona, Switzerland.
They had been charged by prosecutors with defrauding FIFA in connection with a payment of $2 million Platini received in 2011.
In November 2015, FIFA’s ethics committee launched formal proceedings against Blatter and Platini, who was the president of UEFA at that time.
In December 2015, FIFA banned the duo from participating in football-related activities.
