ISTANBUL (AA) – The Turkish benchmark stock index ended at an historical high closing level of 8,236.14 points on Tuesday, soaring by 1.16%, or 94.81 points, from the previous close.
The lowest value of Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index during the day was 8,090.21, with the highest at 8,236.14.
The market value of the BIST 100 was around 7 trillion Turkish liras ($261.7 billion) by market close, while the daily trading volume was 157 billion Turkish liras ($5.85 billion).
The trading saw 55 indexes gaining value, while 43 lost.
The price of an ounce of gold was $1,952.30, while Brent crude oil sold for $90.8 per barrel as of 6.30 p.m. local time (1530GMT).
The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 26.7890 the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 28.7280, and the British pound traded at 33.6780 Turkish liras.
