ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index opened at 1,138.91 points on Friday, down 0.40% or 4.6 points from the previous close.
At the previous close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was down 0.15% at 1,143.51 points, with a daily trading volume of 20.9 billion Turkish liras ($2.7 billion).
The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 7.7770 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), versus 7.7640 at the previous close.
The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also increased to 9.1260 from 9.1160, while one British pound traded for 10.0430 Turkish liras, up slightly from 10.0300.
One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $39.80 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
