ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index BIST 100 fell 238.31 points or 0.22 percent to open at 107,096.47 points on Friday.
The banking and holding sector indices dropped 0.38 and 0.57 percent respectively.
Among all sector indices, the communication sector index was the best performer, gaining 0.67 percent, whereas the holding sector index saw the biggest decline.
Turkey's benchmark stock index previously closed Thursday at 107,334.78 points, going down 1,020 points with a trade volume of 5.2 billion Turkish liras ($1.36 billion).
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 3.82 at 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) Friday, compared with 3.7720 at Thursday's close.
In addition the euro/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 4.4430 at 9.30 a.m. local time Friday, compared with 4.4250 at Thursday's close.
Brent crude oil price went up to $59.34 per barrel on Friday at 9.30 a.m. local time compared with $58.39 at 6 p.m. local time (1500GMT) the previous day.
