ANKARA (AA) – Turkey’s benchmark stock index opened at 1,357.93 points on Monday, down 0.39% or 5.35 points from the previous close.
At last week’s close, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index fell 0.29% at 1,363.28 points, with a daily trading volume of 8.86 billion Turkish liras ($1.04 billion).
The stock exchange will trade half-day Monday due to Eid al-Adha, the Islamic Feast of Sacrifice.
The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 8.5700 as of 9:30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), up from 8.5360 at last week’s close.
The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 10.1100 from 10.1090, while one British pound traded for 11.7800 Turkish liras, versus 11.7940 at Friday's close.
One barrel of Brent crude oil was sold for around $72.90 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
