ANKARA (AA) - The BIST 100 index increased by 0.17 percent at the opening of the daily session Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016.
The Borsa Istanbul gained 129.91 points to open at 77,807.69.
The banking sector index increased, by 0.17 percent, and the holding sector index by 0.08 percent. The mining sector index increased the most, with 1.89 percent, while the sports sector index declined the most, with 0.49 percent.
On Wednesday, the BIST 100 index showed a positive trend in accordance with the declining interest rates and closed the day at 77,677.78, with a 0.67 percent increase.
Analysts say the markets would follow the summary of Turkish Central Bank's Monetary Policy Committee, Fed head Janet Yellen's messages, and the second quarter GDP figures of the U.S. economy on Thursday.
The U.S. dollar to Turkish lira exchange rate was at 2.9850 early Thursday morning, slightly down compared to the previous close rate at 2.9871.
