ANKARA (AA) - Borsa Istanbul rose 0.15 percent to open at 88,719.84 points on Tuesday.
The BIST 100 index advanced 132.18 points at opening with all sub-indices of the benchmark index except construction starting the day in positive territory.
Among all sub-indices the best performer was the textile-leather index, rising 1.08 percent while the only sub-index seeing a loss was construction, down 0.3 percent from the last close.
On Monday the benchmark index rose to test the 89,500-points mark, which is seen as a psychological threshold for markets by many experts. But it failed to break this level and finished the day down 0.27 percent to close at 88,587.66 points.
Analysts expect imminent purchasing managers’ indices from both U.S. and EU economies to set the tone in markets as there is no macro data scheduled for domestic markets.
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate, which was at 3.6220 by the time markets closed at 6.00 p.m. (1500GMT) Monday, edged up 0.2 percent to 3.6310 upon opening at 10.00 a.m. (0700GMT) Tuesday.
