ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark index started the day with a 80.71-point decrease to open at 89,853.17 on Friday.
During the first transactions of the day, the BIST 100 index declined 0.09 percent.
The banking sector index fell by 0.05 while the holding sector index rose by 0.06 percent.
Among all sectors, the electricity index was the best performer -- up 0.56 percent -- while the leasing and factoring sector started Friday with the biggest decline, falling 0.66 percent.
At Thursday's closing session, the benchmark index was up 0.69 percent -- increasing 613.63 points -- to 89,933.88 points with a total trading volume of 4.4 billion Turkish liras ($1.19 billion).
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 3.7140 at 09.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Friday, compared with 3.6990 at Thursday's close.
