ANKARA (AA) – The BIST-100 index rose 148.06 points to open at 82,510.83 on Wednesday in its first transactions.
On the third opening session of the week, the country's benchmark index started with a 0.18 percent increase.
The banking and holding sector indices were up 0.19 and 0.03 percent, respectively. The metal basic sector index rose the most, by 0.82 percent. The leasing and factoring index saw the biggest drop, 0.14 percent, in initial transactions.
Meanwhile, the U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 3.7940 at 9.30 a.m. (0630GMT) Wednesday, compared to 3.7680 at Tuesday's close.
Gold held at $1,212.98 an ounce.
U.S. crude futures rose by 0.13 percent to $52.55 a barrel, while benchmark Brent crude futures climbed 0.14 percent to $55.55.
