ANKARA (AA) – The BIST 100 index rose 50.64 points to open at 82,350.96 on Friday in its first transaction.
On the last opening session of the week, the country's benchmark index started with a 0.06 percent increase.
The banking sector index was up 0.20 percent, while the holding sector index was down 0.10 percent. Among all the sector indices, the tourism sector index rose the most, by 0.48 percent. The construction index saw the biggest drop, 0.27 percent, in initial transactions.
Meanwhile, the U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate fell slightly to 3.8200 at 9.30 a.m. (0630GMT) Friday, compared to 3.8260 at Thursday's close.
Gold held at $1,207.97 an ounce.
U.S. crude futures rose by 0.27 percent to $52.26 a barrel, while benchmark Brent crude futures climbed 0.35 percent to $54.35.
