ANKARA (AA) - The Istanbul stock exchange was 167.19 points down at its opening on Tuesday.
The BIST 100 index stood at 96,232.85 points, a 0.17 percent fall on Monday’s close.
The banking and holding sector indices fell by 0.19 percent and 0.13 percent respectively.
The mining sector index was the best performer -- up 0.87 percent -- while the trade sector index started the day with the biggest drop, falling by 0.76 percent.
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 3.5770 at 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), compared with 3.5570 at Monday’s close.
The BIST 100 rose 1,252.70 points -- 1.32 percent -- to reach a historic high of 96,400.03 points at the close of trading on Monday, with a total trading volume of 5 billion liras ($1.4 billion).
