ANKARA (AA) - The Istanbul stock exchange index rose 20.68 points at the start of trading Friday.
The BIST 100 rose by 0.02 percent to open at 98,757.70 points.
The banking and holding sector indices were up 0.07 percent and 0.16 percent respectively while the mining sector proved the best performing index -- up 0.75 percent.
The trade sector started the day with the biggest drop, falling 0.39 percent.
Turkey’s benchmark index fell by 0.9 percent to stand at 98,737,01 points at Thursday's closing.
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate went up to 3.5250 at 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) Friday, compared to 3.5190 at Thursday's close.
