ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey’s BIST 100 stock exchange rose 88.88 points, or 0.08 percent, to open at 105,356.67 points Wednesday.
The banking sector index rose 0.17 percent while the holding sector index dropped 0.31 percent.
The metal sector saw the biggest rise -- up 1.53 percent -- as the chemistry, oil and plastic sector saw the biggest fall, down 0.65 percent.
The Istanbul-based market was up 1.3 percent at 105,267.80 points at Tuesday’s close, recording 6.7 billion Turkish lira ($1.7 billion) in trade.
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate climbed to 3.9720 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630 GMT) on Wednesday, compared with Tuesday's close at 3.9560.
The euro/lira rate also rose to 4.6670 on Wednesday morning, up from 4.6400 at Tuesday’s close.
The Brent oil price rose to $63.07 per barrel on Wednesday, up from $62.66 on Tuesday.
