ANKARA (AA) – The BIST 100 index decreased by 78.52 points to open at 84,129.38 during its first transactions on Wednesday.
The benchmark index started with a 0.09 percent decrease in the third opening session of the week. The decrease is termed flat if the drop is less than 0.20 percent.
The banking and holding sector indexes declined by 0.08 percent and 0.53 percent, respectively. Among all the sector indices, the mining sector index increased the most, by 1.26 percent, in the initial transactions.
Meanwhile, the U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate increased to stand at 3.7860 at 9.30 a.m. (0630GMT) Wednesday, compared with 3.7600 at Tuesday's close.
Gold held at $1,202.71 an ounce.
The U.S. crude futures fell by 0.25 percent to $53.05 a barrel, while the benchmark Brent crude futures declined by 0.20 percent to $55.33.
