ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index ended at 7,400.57 points on Friday, hitting the historical high closing level, up by 2.48%, or 179.06 points, from the previous close.
Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index's highest level during the day was 7,427.10, with the lowest being 7,205.35.
The trading saw 82 indexes gaining value, while 17 lost.
The daily transaction volume reached 136.4 billion liras ($5.05 billion), while the overall value of the index was 6.3 trillion liras ($233.9 billion).
The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 26.9890 as of 7.00 p.m. local time (GMT1400), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 29.7850, while the British pound traded at 34.4830 Turkish liras.
