ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index opened at 1,544.79 points on Friday, up 0.64% or 9.89 points from the previous close.
Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index closed Thursday at 1,534.90 points, with a daily trading volume of 24.6 billion liras ($3.4 billion).
The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 7.1400 from 7.1340 as of 9:30 a.m. local time (0630GMT).
The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also slipped to 8.5400 from 8.5500, while one British pound traded for 9.7900 on Friday, versus 9.7730 at Thursday’s close.
One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $59.12 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
